Ideal Influencer

My Ideal Influencer .....

The question of who would be my ideal influencer had been bouncing in head for a while. Who would be a strong advocate for education, for our young adults to be positive presence in society? Who is well known and has an established following/fan-base. Then it dawned on me and I fell over laughing because I soooooooo love this guy's work...... Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs!

Whats sets Mike Rowe apart from others? He jumped into the sewers! He cleaned out the worst places side by side with American workers for years so show everyone the types of skilled jobs are out there besides those you find in an office or behind a computer. Mike Rowe is an advocate for skilled labor and the continuation of educating our young adults to learn a skill either at a trade school or at a 4 year college.

Mike Rowe likes to talk about the job skills that are needed now because we are not producing enough trained tradesmen/women and the ones in the profession are wanting to retire but cannot because of the shortage of skilled replacements.

Retrain for a better job

Topics of Discussion:

1. Advocate for the skilled laborer - retrain to learn a new skill to fill the job gap
2. Advocate for Career and Technology Education (CTE) and Skills USA, both high school technology/vocational departments such as the one I belong to teaching students about career opportunities/preparation and learning transferable skills.
3. Likes to take jabs at pay a lot of money for ivy league / 4 year universities and is immediately buried under a mound of debt. Mr. Rowe tries to promote the mentality of Work hard AND smart.

Interesting Discussion Mike Rowe had about the difference of working hard vs slavery
