I've been Framed!

Simple:
Learning is a lifelong journey that is no longer an option.

Unexpected:
"By embracing a student-like mindset and learning to turn self-education into a daily habit, you can hone your current skills and develop new ones while enriching your mind" - Edudemic staff

Concrete:
Why is there a demand for learning today than any other generation.?
  1. People are living longer. Our great grandparents life expectancy was in the 60s. Today it's 80.
  2. We are experiencing more advancements in technology. Something new is released every 6 months.
  3. The average person makes 6-7 career changes in their lifetime. People are not entering their job for life.
  4. There are more unique life changes and transitions experienced today such as blended families, divorce, career changes and aging.

Credible:

This clipart represents the different paths one might travel in life, but does that person have enough knowledge or transferable skills to choose their right path?

Emotional:
John Dewey once said, "Education is not preparation for life, education is life itself" implying that young children continue to learn as they go through life. He recognized that children learn through their schooling as well as their everyday family life like chores and play. This experiential knowledge will stay with them and only grow as they do. B.B. King once said, "The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you." This is one of life's certainties that goes along with death and taxes.

Tell a Story:

"Never stop learning because life never stops teaching." - Anonymous

Learning occurs at anytime, anywhere, and for any reason. When you continue to learn, you improve yourself and keep up with this fast paced world we live in. If learning becomes stagnant, the world will pass on by and you might be left behind or replaced. In today's world, you cannot afford to not continue to learn and embrace being a lifelong learner.

My Personal Brand:

Learning  Education Learning   Education Learning

Define your objective.

I want to people to know me for the educator that I am.

My goal in life is be learning and education. I want to learn as much as I can to stay ahead of the game. I want to learn to exercise my mind. I want to learn to stay in step with the world instead of letting it speed on by! I want to impress upon my students the importance of being a life-long learner and that there are numerous rewards with little penalties. I want to share with students how much fun one gains from increasing one’s knowledge, how much of the world is opened up to them and how much more they can protect once they know the truth and history behind things.

I’m an advocate for Career and Technology Education

I have been a life-long learner of education while working as a teacher.
I have taught in elementary classes, middle school electronics classes,
and numerous high school technology and business classes. I have always
had a love for hands-on projects and is one of the main reasons I went
into teaching vocational/industrial/technology courses. I want to share
my passion with the younger generations and work with them to let them
know that they can learn valuable skills to create wonders with technology
as well as with their hands.

I liked this outlook from an article “Lifelong Learning No Longer Option.”
It reads something to the fact that businesses and technology are constantly
changing and continue to advance at a rapid rate, as well as the value of a
college degree. Today, a college degree will help new graduates enter the
workforce…OF TODAY. Just earning a degree is no longer sufficient for long
-term career success. A few years after being hired, these same graduates
will need to embrace lifelong learning to remain marketable in mostly every
area of their career field. Lifelong learning benefits just about any
organization, school, or company as well as its employees. Employees receive
the opportunity to expand their career opportunities, boost their earnings,
and become more intellectually engaged. The employer gets employees better
able to meet the needs of a constantly shifting marketplace.

Write a strong position statement.

My life's purpose has been and always will be Learning and Education. Whether it is me teaching a class of high school students or taking college courses to keep up with current trends and learning new teaching strategies. I have been learning to be a teacher for a while and was honored to have my first full-time teaching position at Kalaheo high school and now I am blessed to be teaching at Kamehameha Schools on the Kapalama campus.

Interesting article to examine by Edudemic:

"Teachers who adopt a lifelong learning mindset have access to information and use it to collaborate with others. Learning teachers also view mistakes and challenges as a part of the learning process rather than as failures.”
